Fugitive wanted out of Connecticut arrested after crash in Maine

A crash on I-295 in Freeport during Thursday’s Nor’easter led to the arrest of a woman wanted on a kidnapping charge out of Connecticut.

The crash was reported in the southbound median near Exit 24 around 11 a.m. Thursday. The driver, 45-year-old Holli Tapley of Connecticut, ran across the interstate and into the woods when a police officer arrived.

She was later found in the driveway of a nearby residence and detained after a short foot pursuit.

Tapley was taken to the Cumberland County Jail where she’s being held on a fugitive from justice charge.
