The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is endorsing incumbent Democratic U.S. Representative Jared Golden in the Maine 2nd Congressional District race.

Golden is facing Republican Austin Theriault in next month’s election and the U.S. Chamber is historically viewed as friendlier to the GOP.

Golden is a third-term moderate who voted last year against President Joe Biden’s policies more than any other House Democrat, according to a CQ-Roll Call analysis.

The endorsement comes a day after the Chamber presented Golden with its Advocate for American Business award.

Meanwhile, Golden will debate Theriault tonight on CBS 13.

Golden is touting his record of independence, noting his voting record against fellow Democrats.

Theriault a former NASCAR driver and first-term state lawmaker from Fort Kent who says Golden is a flip-flopper who’s lost his way.

Golden is a top target for national Republicans in a district that went for former President Trump in 2016 and 2020.

The CBS13 “Your Voice, Your Future” debate will happen tonight at 7 p.m.
