PORTLAND, Maine (AP) The first votes have been cast in Maine, but the GOP is still trying to stop ranked choice voting in the presidential race.

The Maine Republican Party on Thursday asked the Maine supreme court for an injunction stopping ranked choice voting in the presidential race, even after 2,300 overseas ballots have been cast.

The Maine GOP contends the Maine Constitution requires that ranked voting be delayed if the party can show a likelihood of success on a lawsuit over the GOP’s “People’s Veto” referendum drive.
