Two people were hospitalized after a fire broke out at an apartment building in Gorham Wednesday night.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office ruled the fire on Narragansett St. accidental and said it started on a kitchen stove in a first-floor apartment.

According to the Portland Press Herald, officials said it started after a man fell asleep while cooking.

The Press Herald says three people had to be rescued from the building and 13 people were displaced by the fire.

One of the people pulled from the building by firefighters was taken to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.

Another individual who was hospitalized was expected to be discharged Wednesday morning.

In January, two people were taken to the hospital after a truck crossed the centerline and smashed into the same apartment building.
