Gorham police search for man who allegedly threatened to shoot family member

Police say a search is underway for a 31-year-old man who said that he was going to shoot a family member.

According to a press release from the Gorham Police Dept., the man said he was suicidal.

He reportedly said he was armed with a 9mm handgun and was going into the wooded area behind USM’s Gorham campus.

A perimeter was immediately set up around the entire area, and a k-9 search was conducted, but police couldn’t locate the man.

he’s described as a 5-9, about 200 pounds with a shaved head and brown eyes.

He has a Christian cross tattoo on the inside of his left forearm.

The release said the suspect wasn’t rational and had taken several types of illicit drugs and was heavily intoxicated.

Police say if you see an individual matching this description you should not approach him.

Instead, you’re urged to immediately contact the Gorham Police Department.
