AUGUSTA, Maine (WGAN) Public health officials in Maine were notified Friday morning that two more people in the state have tested presumptively positive for the Coronavirus.
The two new cases involve a woman in her 20s, according to the Portland Press Herald. She is being cared for at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
The other individual is a man in his 50s, who is under self-quarantine at home.
The two new cases come one day after Gov. Janet Mills announced Maine’s first case of the virus.
A Navy reservist who had recently returned from Italy was the state’s first Coronavirus patient.
Gov. Mills said the woman is in her 50’s and is self-quarantined at her home in Androscoggin County.
There are simple steps you can take to reduce the possible spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses such as influenza and the common cold:
– Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
– Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
– Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
– Stay home while you’re sick and avoid close contact with others.
– Currently there is no vaccine available to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
