HAMPDEN (WGAN) A Maine man who shot his sister-in-law ten times was sentenced Tuesday to 43 years behind bars.

56-year-old Philip Clark was convicted of murder in November in the killing of Renee Henneberry Clark in Hampden. He told investigators that he snapped because the victim kept pushing his buttons.

Renee Clark had a protection order against her estranged husband, and a criminal trespass order against his brother, Philip Clark. The July 2018 shooting happened hours after a confrontation over Clark’s tools being removed and taken to Renee Clark’s home.

Clark faced 25 years to life in prison.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Clark’s defense attorney pushed for a 25-year sentence while the prosecution, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Marchese, recommended a 50-year sentence.
