A Maine man has pleaded guilty to 10 counts of aggravated attempted murder, among other charges.

The Portland Press Herald reports that 31-year-old Richard Murray-Burns of Hartland pleaded guilty Wednesday to 13 charges stemming from a shootout and high-speed pursuit with police that happened in December of 2019. The violence followed a report of shoplifting at a Waterville Walmart.

Murray-Burns will avoid a jury trial by entering the pleas and will be sentenced in November.

He could face a life sentence.
