BRISTOL(WGME)— On New Year’s Eve, a head-on car crash caused a deadly accident in the town of Bristol.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Deputies say that they had received a call for a head-on collision on Bristol Road near the split of Rt 129/ 130 around 12:31 PM Friday.

Deputies say that a Robert Campbell, 39, of New Harbor was driving his 2010 Black Toyota Tacoma southbound when his vehicle crossed the center line colliding into and a 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by 69 year old Karen McCubbin of Bristol, who was driving northbound.

According to Deputies, McCubbin’s vehicle rolled onto its roof, while Campbell eventually came to a stop on the northbound side.

Campbell and a 6-year-old boy were then taken to Lincoln Health Miles campus in Damariscotta, where deputies say they were wearing their seatbelts. They are reported to have non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies believe speed and alcohol were factors in the accident.

If you witnessed the collision or either vehicle operating prior to the event, you are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 207-882-7332.
