Health officials investigate COVID-19 outbreak linked to wedding reception in Millinocket

Maine’s CDC is investigating a COVID-19 outbreak linked to a wedding reception in Millinocket.

Maine CDC spokesman Robert Long said Monday that 24 people associated with the reception at Big Moose Inn on August 7th have tested positive for COVID-19. By Tuesday, that number increased to 28. Of those, 18 attended the reception and 10 others had close contact with those who were in attendance. All of those who tested positive are Maine residents.

Health officials anticipate more positives among those linked to the event as testing continues.

In all, about 65 people attended the event.

Maine’s CDC is investigating the outbreak and conducting contact tracing for all guests and staff who may have come in contact with the attendees.

Anyone who attended an event at Big Moose Inn on August 7th and is experiencing symptom consistent with COVID-19 are encouraged to contact their health care provider.
