Two men who led police on a chase in a stolen U-Haul van were taken into custody after crashing into a FedEx truck in Winthrop.

An officer tried to pull the van over after reports of erratic driving on Route 202 in Monmouth Tuesday afternoon, but the driver took off, leading police on a chase with speeds reaching over 90 MPH.

The vehicle eventually crashed into a FedEx truck on Winthrop Center Road in Winthrop, with the driver, 25-year-old Ronald Hinkley Jr. of North Monmouth, and his passenger, 31-year-old Robert Hermanson of Warren, taken into custody.

The driver of the FedEx truck, a 59-year-old woman from Old Orchard Beach, was treated at the scene.
