Powerful wind gusts have brought down trees and power lines, leaving tens of thousands of homes and businesses without power.

Central Maine Power was reporting more than 42,000 outages at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. York County was by far the hardest hit area with more than 13,000 outages.

The utility keeps an updated list of power outages in its website. You can view that list by clicking here.

Officials from CMP said it would be difficult for crews to keep up with the outages because of the high winds. Forecasters said gusts could top 50 mph.

The winds took down trees in some areas Tuesday morning. Crews worked during the morning commute to remove a tree that had fallen across White Bridges Road off Roosevelt Trail in Standish.
