A 39-year-old man, on probation for manslaughter, is accused of dragging a woman out of a vehicle and assaulting her in Holden over the weekend.

Holden Police say they were called to the scene of a reported assault near Mann Hill and Kidder Hill roads just before 9 a.m. Sunday.

Officers say they were told by a witness that the woman was dragged out of the passenger side of a pickup truck, her phone tossed and hit several times by the man who’d been driving the truck.

They say the man drove away and the woman left on foot before they arrived.

Officers say they tracked down the woman and arrested her when they found out she was in felony violation of conditional release. It’s not known if she was injured in the assault.

Police say they were able to identify the man accused in the assault as 39-year-old Merrill Muncey III of Holden. Officers located and arrested Muncey Monday without incident.

They say his right to drive was revoked because of his Manslaughter conviction and Operating under the Influence.

Police say Muncey has been charged with Operating after Revocation (felony), Domestic Violence Assault, and Violation of Conditions of Release on three separate occasions.
