The city of Portland says it’s giving people experiencing homelessness one more week to remain at the homeless camps along Bayside trail before they will be forced to move.

The extension gives more time for city officials to discuss the city’s homelessness crisis and find options for the emergency housing plan.

According to CBS 13, the city says the camps pitched along the trail pose a danger to those living there and the general public, but the people camping there say they have nowhere else to go.

All homeless shelters in the city are currently at full capacity, and people experiencing homelessness have limited options.

Currently, dozens of tents are set up along the Bayside tail, starting behind the Trader Joe’s.
