Homeowner arrested after fire in Stonington

Police say an investigation into a fire in Stonington led to the arrest of the homeowner.

Maine State Police say the fire broke out at a home on School Street around 11 a.m. Wednesday. After the fire was extinguished, the Fire Marshal’s Office conducted an investigation and arrested 33-year-old George St. Amand without incident.

St. Amand was charged with arson and taken to Hancock County Jail. He’s expected to appear in court on Friday.
