Homicide investigation underway after body found on side of the road in Augusta

A death in Augusta over the weekend has been ruled a homicide.

According to Maine State Police, the incident near Belgrade Road in Augusta was initially reported as a suspicious death around 10 p.m. Friday. A motorist reported that they saw a body on the side of the road.

Augusta Police were at the scene into Saturday morning before the case was turned over to Maine State Police. The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Tyler Robinson of Augusta. His cause of death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy.

Police are asking anyone driving through the area between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. who may have seen people running in the roadway to call Maine State Police at 207-624-7076.
