House Heavily Damaged in Somerset County Fire

Five fire departments were called in to assist Fairfield Benton Emergency Services in battling a house fire in Benton on Sunday morning.

Firefighters say they found heavy fire coming from the second floor, but say the fire was quickly knocked down thanks to what they called an aggressive interior attack.

Crews remained on scene for several hours to ensure the building was fully overhauled and safe.

No injuries were reported.
Departments assisting with the fire included Waterville, Clinton, Winslow, Albion, Oakland and Skowhegan.
The fire was reported at 1 am Sunday.
