The remains of a man who was found by a hunter on Thanksgiving in Waldoboro have been identified.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner says the remains found off Old County Road were those of 54-year-old Douglas Barter of Waldoboro.

Barter left the Miles Memorial Emergency Department against medical advice and was last seen on Nov. 8.

He was reported missing the following day after he didn’t return home.

Police say foul play is not suspected in the man’s death.
