Investigation into cause of death underway for man found dead in Kennebec River

The body of a missing man was found in the Kennebec River in Waterville.

Police say 42-year-old John Lessard went into the river on August 21 and never resurfaced. His body was found Saturday about 200 yards from where police believe he entered the water.

Lessard’s cause of death is still under investigation.
