A young girl accused of stabbing her father in Auburn will be released.

According to our news partners at CBS 13, a judge allowed the 12-year-old girl to stay with a relative, but she must remain under house arrest unless supervised by one of three people and must take part in treatment and counseling. She was previously being held at Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.

She’s accused of stabbing her father twice — once in the stomach and again in the chest — at their Winter Street home in January. According to affidavits, she told police that she heard “voices” telling her to kill her family.

The girl is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
