BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) A woman accused of leaving threatening voicemails targeting Sen. Susan Collins will stand trial.

Katrina Preble of Bangor faces two counts of interstate threatening for leaving the messages at Sen. Collins’ offices in Bangor and Washington in November of 2020.

According to the Portland Press Herald, Preble was receiving treatment at a federal prison in Texas after a doctor said she suffered from mental illness that prevented her from understanding court proceedings.

She was found to be competent to stand trial this week in the U.S. District Court in Bangor.

That trial could begin as soon as March. If convicted, Preble, who entered not guilty pleas on both charges, could serve five years behind bars.
