The Maine Attorney General’s Office has been sanctioned by a judge for failing to disclose information in a homicide case in a timely manner.

Jason Ibarra pleaded guilty to domestic violence manslaughter in the death of his mother, Jeanine Ross, in May of 2022.

According to the Portland Press Herald, Justice Daniel Billings says the Office of Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey violated the discovery process by not disclosing personnel records before jury selection, including a document that called into question one witness’s credibility.

An official with the AG’s office says the decision came as a surprise and that other courts haven’t found fault with its actions.
