KENDUSKEAG, Maine (WGAN) Police say a Maine man is charged with assault after allegedly pushing a sheriff’s deputy off a set of stairs.

Police said Deputy Corporal Ryan Fitch of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office arrived at a home in Kenduskeag to serve paperwork to 56-year-old George Taylor on Friday night.

Police say Taylor opened the door and shoved Fitch off the stairs.

Fitch’s leg was injured, but he was able to subdue Taylor with a stun gun when Taylor came towards him aggressively, according to police.

Fitch was treated for a fractured ankle and taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
