A sheriff’s deputy in Kennebec County accused of assaulting his wife was arrested while on duty.
Maine State Police say the sheriff’s office received a call on Monday about ongoing domestic violence incidents at a home in West Gardiner.
The individual told police that 29-year-old Daniel Ross, a Kennebec County sheriff’s deputy, had been assaulting his wife while off duty.
Ross was taken into custody Monday night.
He was charged with three counts of Domestic Violence Assault, three counts of Domestic Violence Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Sexual Contact, Domestic Violence Terrorizing with a Dangerous Weapon and Aggravated Assault.
Ross began working with the sheriff’s office in March of 2021.
He’s been placed on paid administrative leave and was expected to make his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
