Kittery daycare evacuated, 11 hospitalized after suspected carbon monoxide leak

Seven children and four adults were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a potential carbon monoxide leak at a Kittery daycare.

Emergency vehicles rushed to Building Blocks Learning Center on Route 236 around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday.

The Kittery Fire Department says there were 27 children and about 10 staff members in the building at the time of the call.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the incident.
