Large Amount of Heroin Seized in Augusta, Four Arrested

AUGUSTA, Maine (WGAN)  The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says four people have been arrested after a hotel was raided in the city.

MDEA agents had recently been getting reports of drug trafficking happening at the Augusta Inn on Edison Drive.  The Agency says a follow up criminal investigation resulted in a search of one of the motel rooms.

As a result, agents say they seized over 350 grams of heroin, which they say has a conservative street value of more than $70,000.  A small amount of crack cocaine and $3,852 in suspected drug proceeds was also seized.

27-year-old Alex Kanaris and 27-year-old Krystle Clark from Sidney and 29-year-old Andrew Redmond and 27-year-old Danielle Violette from Augusta were all charged with aggravated trafficking.

Kanaris’ bail was set at $150,000.  They other three had bail set at $100,000.

They’re expected to make their initial appearances in Kennbec Unified Court Wednesday.
