The Government Oversight Committee conducted a review of the Department of Health and Human Services Friday morning to find out why no one seems to be able to get a hold of them.

According to CBS 13, both Republican and Democratic lawmakers expressed concern after multiple constituents shared that they had been unable to get through to the department for days or were put on hold for several hours at a time.

Committee members say they want the issue resolved as quickly as possible and have voted to send a letter requesting answers to the problem and data showing the extent of the issue.

Calls were being made to the department for numerous reasons, including questions or concerns about issues like snap benefits, healthcare, child welfare cases and more.

In a statement to CBS 13, the DHHS said it’s aware of its longer wait times and is approving overtime so its employees can process more calls as part of its effort to resolve the issue.
