LEWISTON, Maine (WGAN)  A Lewiston man has been arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana and butane hash oil manufacturing.

Maine’s U.S. Attorney Halsey Frank announced the arrest of 52-year-old Richard Daniels, a.k.a “Stitch.”

Frank says the charges stem from an investigation into a drug trafficking organization in Lewiston-Auburn with a large amount of marijuana being grown and distributed.

According to the complaint, the organization had multiple warehouses in Androscoggin County and distributed marijuana to people not part of Maine’s Medical Marijuana program, including out-of-state customers.

Federal, state and local authorities executed over 20 search warrants in the Lewiston-Auburn area Tuesday, seizing over 50 kilograms of marijuana, six mason jars partially filled with butane hash oil and a kilogram of shatter.

If convicted, Daniels faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
