A Lewiston man has died after wardens say he struck a tree while snowmobiling in northern Somerset County Saturday evening.

According to our info partners at CBS 13 news, Shawn Chamberlain was driving in the Moosehead Lake region when around 5 p.m. he lost control on a turn and hit the tree. Chamberlain’s riding partner saw the crash and administered CPR immediately before flagging down a passing vehicle to call 911, but chamberlain was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m.

Wardens believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. Maine game warden sergeant bill chandler reminds riders to drive appropriately for the trail and the conditions. and above all, don’t drink and ride.
