Lewiston police investigate attempted child abduction


Police in Lewiston are investigating what they say was an attempted child abduction.

Police said Thursday the incident happened around 3:30 Thursday morning on Wood Street near Sabattus Street. The child is safe and was not injured.

Police are trying to identify the suspect and are asking for the public’s help.

The man is described as a black male with a thin build, between 5’6″ and 5’10”.

Police say detectives are following up on leads but are asking anyone who may have seen the man, who was spotted in the area of Sabattus Street and College Street, to give them a call.
