School officials say threatening language towards Lewiston High School that was reposted on social media was posted by a child who doesn’t live in Maine.

Superintendent Jake Langlais said officials became aware of the message on Sunday. In an update on Monday afternoon, Langlais said they determined that the message was posted by a 10-year-old who lives in the midwest.

Langlais said they’re not always at liberty to share information due to legal protections and ongoing investigations.

Classes continued as normal at the high school on Monday.
