A 67-year-old Maine man is dead after his car landed upside down in a river in Whitefield.

Lincoln County deputies say a car driven by Chris Conary of Alna went through an intersection on Pittston Road and hit a snowbank, causing the car to go airborne.

They say the car then hit a parked car before landing upside down in a river in about five feet of water.

Deputies say crews were not able to get Conary out of the vehicle, and he died at the scene.
