LISBON (WGME) — This year’s Maine Marathon has extra special meaning for one Lisbon woman.

Kim Young was recently diagnosed with a rare type of cancer (EHE). She said doctors told her there is no cure.

Young decided to train and run this year’s Maine Marathon to bring awareness to the rare form of cancer she’s living with.

She designed the t-shirt she wore that reads: “Just Live.” On the back are the names of 100+ people past and present with the same cancer.

She’s been selling them and so far she’s raised over $1,200 for The EHE Foundation.

This was Young’s first marathon and she plans to run it again next year.
