Former state representative Dale Crafts appeared on the WGAN Morning News Tuesday. The Lisbon Republican is running for the nomination to challenge Democrat Jared Golden for the 2nd District congressional seat.

Crafts was asked what made him throw his hat in the race.

“It’s time. I think the timing’s right,” Crafts said. “I got several calls from different Republican leaders, asking me to run because they thought I fit the district well. With talking to a lot of friends and family, I made the decision it was time to get in the race.”

Crafts was just endorsed by Paul LePage. The former Governor’s press secretary, Adrienne Bennett, and former state senator Eric Brakey are also running for the nomination.
