Litchfield man dies in car, logging truck collision

A Litchfield man is dead after the car he was riding in collided with a logging truck in Union Tuesday night, police say.

According to police, the car driven by 75-year-old Ernest Pushard of Gardiner turned onto Route 17 from South Union Road, into the path of the oncoming truck.

His passenger, 64-year-old Daniel Bailey of Litchfield, died in the wreck, police said.

Pushard was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the truck was not seriously hurt in the accident.
