AUGUSTA (WGAN)- One month after a program was announced to provide 383 dollars for every child in Maine who receives discounted or free lunches at school, many of those families are still waiting for that money. The Sun Journal reports that Maine DHHS spokeswoman Jackie Farewell said that the vendor for the EBT cards, where the benefits would be deposited, has had a lot of delays because of the surge of demand, and could be delayed for another three weeks. Farewell stressed that they are committed to providing those benefits to eligible families as soon as possible.
