The Maine CDC has launched an investigation into another outbreak at a Bangor rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility in response to dozens of positive cases.

According to Maine CDC spokesperson, Robert Long, the investigation began on Monday into Eastside Center for Health and Rehabilitation, which provides both long-term and short-term care.

As of Saturday, the facility has 23 residents and 13 staff members who had tested positive for COVID-19. The case information was relayed by a family member of a resident, who received a pre-recorded call by the facility informing them of the outbreak.

Eastside Center for Health and Rehabilitation is an affiliate of National Health Care Associates Inc., who’s Augusta facility was among the first long-term care facility to have an outbreak in the state.

During the course of the outbreak, which began in April, the facility recorded 48 cases among residents and 28 among staff. Seven residents died.
