11 deaths, 715 cases of coronavirus reported by Maine health officials

The Maine CDC reported 11 new coronavirus deaths on Tuesday, raising the statewide death toll to 449.

Public health officials also reported 715 new cases. It was the fourth highest single-day increase so far. The record high came on Friday, when 782 cases were reported.

All told, there have been 30,326 cases in Maine since the start of the pandemic.

As of Tuesday, 58,083 Mainers had received a coronavirus vaccine. 51,150 had received their first dose, and 6,933 had received their second.

The Maine CDC says 1,189 Mainers have been hospitalized at some point with COVID-19. As of Tuesday, 203 people were in the hospital with COVID-19, approaching the previous record of 205 set on Friday. 68 patients are in critical care and 27 are on ventilators.

According to the Maine CDC, the positivity rate for both molecular and antigen coronavirus testing was 6.1% on Monday, a slight decrease from the previous two days.
