Maine CDC reports 17 new cases in the sate, 32 Mainers have fully recovered, and one resident has died from the coronavirus. Bringing the death toll to 124.

The most recent fatality was a Cumberland County woman in her 70s. This brings the current death toll back up to 124.  Maine’s CDC had reclassified a death reported Monday, saying an investigation revealed it was not linked to COVID-19.

To date, Maine has reported 3,992 cases. 424 of those are considered probable. The rest have been confirmed with testing.

There have been 3,456 recoveries so far.

390 Mainers with COVID-19 have been hospitalized at some point. Day-to-day, hospitalizations have either dropped or remained stable in recent weeks. 12 Mainers with the virus are in the hospital. 1 is currently on a ventilator.

In June, Maine’s CDC began releasing data which breaks down case counts by ZIP code. The information reveals total number of cumulative cases to date, and suppresses data in ZIP codes where there have been 5 or fewer cases and ZIP codes where there are fewer than 50 people. It also excludes Washington and Piscataquis counties, in an effort to protect patient privacy.

The chart below reflects all testing that had been done as of Tuesday, August 5th. Molecular testing reveals whether or not a patient currently has coronavirus. Antibody tests can determine whether or not they’ve already had it and have recovered.
