In light of recent storms, Governor Janet Mills has called a special meeting of the Maine Climate Council to review their impact and plan for the future. The council, comprised of scientists, citizens, and state and local officials, will come together at the University of Maine Augusta to hear from frontline agencies and affected communities.

The council will then develop strategies to increase the state’s resilience to future storms, and will look to other states for guidance. These strategies will be incorporated into Maine’s updated climate plan, which must be presented to the Governor and the legislature by December 1.

If you’re interested in attending the meeting, it will be held on Tuesday, January 23, at 2:00 p.m. in the Fireplace Lounge at the Randall Student Center. Alternatively, you can join via Zoom by registering through this link. The council encourages members of the public to participate.
