Maine Electrician Invited to George HW Bush’s Funeral

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (AP) A Maine man who worked as an electrician for the Bush family says he’s been invited to former President George H.W. Bush’s funeral.

Mike Lovejoy is a Kennebunkport electrician and worked as the 41st president’s electrician at his Maine summer estate since the 1990s. Lovejoy tells WGME-TV that he was a fix-it man, even helping Bush pick out a new television for his compound at Walker’s Point.

He says the invitation was shocking and heartwarming, and says he will be leaving for Washington on Tuesday.

Lovejoy says he’s grateful for the opportunities provided for him by the Bush family.
