The Maine Warden Service rescued a 78-year-old Cutler man who got lost while searching for moose antlers on Monday.

Pete Taylor went out on his ATV around 7 a.m. to look for antlers in the area of Cocoa Mountain Road in Cutler.

Family members began searching for him when he didn’t return.

They located his ATV around 4 p.m., but they couldn’t find Taylor, so they contacted the warden service.

With the help of a K9, game wardens located the man at about 8 p.m.

With sleet and cold temperatures in the area on Monday, Taylor became hypothermic.

He said he fell through the ice of a bog.

He was able to make it out of the bog, but it soaked his clothing.

Rescuers warmed Taylor up with a fire and after being examined by paramedics, he was released to his family.
