Governor Janet Mills has tested positive for COVID-19.

The governor’s office said Thursday afternoon that she had tested positive via a rapid test after developing a scratchy throat, but had no other symptoms.

Mills is fully vaccinated and received two booster shots, with the second booster administered earlier this month.

“I’m grateful for the strong protection that the vaccine has provided me, which I believe is one of the reasons why I am still feeling well,” Mills said in a statement. I’ll be spending the next few days working remotely, monitoring my symptoms, and fully recovering.

The governor’s office says she’s isolating and was prescribed Paxlovid to prevent severe symptoms.
