Maine governor proposes $126.6 million supplemental budget

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) Maine Democratic Gov. Janet Mills has unveiled a nearly $127 million supplemental budget proposal.

It aims to hire more child welfare workers and state troopers, boost funding for education and infrastructure, and bolster the state’s rainy day fund.

Under the proposal, the state would hire another 20 case workers and 14 state police officers.

The proposal would add funding for workforce training, education, wastewater treatment and highway improvements.

Mills says the goal is to promote health and safety, and boost worker skills and economic development.
