Maine Inmate Attempts Suicide

An inmate at the Cumberland County Jail has been placed on suicide watch after attempting to hang himself.

Captain Steve Butts Jr. said the man was caught placing a bed sheet around his neck around 9:25 a.m. Wednesday. The Portland Press Herald reports the man was stopped before it was too late.

He was not seriously injured.
