Maine is joining 15 other states in a lawsuit filed against the Trump administration over light bulbs.

Maine joins states like Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maryland in the suit. The Trump administration rolled back efficiency standards put in place by the Obama administration, though they would not have taken effect until January 1st of 2020. Those regulations would have gradually phased out halogen and incandescent bulbs.

The White House argued that the new rules would have increased the price of bulbs, while environmentalists cite pollution concerns and say more energy-efficient bulbs would end up saving consumers money.
