Maine man accused of attacking man with ax, running over his leg


Police say a Livermore Falls man hit another man with an ax and then ran him over.

According to CBS 13, police have charged 45-year-old Kirk Smith with aggravated assault, aggravated driving to endanger and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.

Smith is accused of hitting a Jay man with an ax on Friday evening, then running over his leg while fleeing in a vehicle.

Smith was identified as the attacker by witnesses at the scene.

The 45-year-old Jay man was taken to the hospital.

Smith is being held at Franklin County Detention Center on $3,000 bail and was expected to appear before a judge on Monday afternoon.
