A man from Wayne who’s accused of demanding photos from a 14-year-old girl and threatening her if she didn’t send them was arrested Wednesday.

Police followed up on a report of sexual exploitation of a minor at Maranacook Community School. Authorities say 29-year-old William Smith contacted who he thought was the victim over social media, requesting photos and threatening her if she refused.

The sheriff’s office says he was actually talking to a deputy in that exchange.

Smith was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and solicitation of a child for commercial sexual exploitation. His bail was set at $5,000 cash.
