Maine man charged with attempted murder for trying to shoot woman in her home multiple times

MEXICO, Maine (WGAN) A man accused of hiding in the basement of a home in the town of Mexico and attempting to kill the woman who lives there faces several charges.

Police said 49-year-old Harry David Every struck the woman on the back of the head with a gun while she was sleeping and tried to shoot her but missed multiple times. A girl also living in the home woke up and pushed Every away from the bedroom door, causing him to retreat back into the basement while the two escaped out the window and called 911.

Police arrived and Every eventually came out of the home voluntarily around 1:30 a.m.

He faces several charges, including attempted murder. He’s being held at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset on $250,000 bail.
