MEXICO, Maine (WGAN) A man accused of hiding in the basement of a home in the town of Mexico and attempting to kill the woman who lives there faces several charges.

Police said 49-year-old Harry David Every struck the woman on the back of the head with a gun while she was sleeping and tried to shoot her but missed multiple times. Police arrived and Every eventually came out of the home voluntarily around 1:30 a.m.

He faces several charges, including attempted murder. He’s being held at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset on $250,000 bail.
