Maine man convicted in killing of ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend

A Maine man is facing life behind bars after he was convicted in the double murder of his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend.

Mark Penley of Peru, Maine had been accused of shooting and killing Heather Bickford and her boyfriend, Dana Hill, in January of 2019 at their apartment in South Paris.

Penley was convicted Tuesday and faces a life sentence.

Investigators said Bickford feared for her life and believed Penley, who witnesses say was harboring jealousy, was following her in the days leading up to the killing.

According to court documents, Penley called 911 after the killings and was found holding Bickford’s infant son and 8-year-old on the couch.
